About cedar

Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar is known as a superior species in terms of stability and durability. Cedar will stand the test of time and because of the low density of the species, it possesses superior insulation qualities. The natural colour tones, ranging from light straw through to buff and warm red to the occasional deep brown, coupled with the endless variety of textures and grains, make it ideal to age naturally or paint or stain to achieve your desired aesthetic.

Architectural Catalogue
All kiln seasoned premium grade/tight knot cedar claddings are available in lengths from 0.6m to 4.8m - longer lengths may be available. All cladding is protective packaged in clear poly shrink film - each bundle carrying four or six same length boards. 'CP' series claddings are an economic option to traditional 18mm profiles packaged six boards per pack. Premium grade quality permits inclusion of natural wood characteristics such as small sound pin knots or burls in occasional boards.

Channel claddings are also available with an optional fine sawn textured face for a small surcharge. All claddings must be double face nailed at a maximum 600 centres.

Western Red Cedar Bevel Siding
Bevel Siding
Premium bevel sidings are manufactured to a "heavy butt" profile which, when installed, provides a strong, bold shadowline effect. The "heavy butt" profile is substantially thicker than most imported Canadian sidings (CBKS8) manufactured to conform to requirements of U.S. housing construction regulations.

Shingles
Shingles
No 1 Grade "Blue Label" premium clear grade shingles are fully quarter sawn and recommended for roofing applications. No 2 Grade "Red Label" shingles are a general purpose grade with limited sap wood. These contain both quarter and back sawn. When installing shingles, shakes and capping always remember to use rust resistant nails.
