Heart in Studs
Standard
They are produced from the centre part or the
'heart' area of pine logs. Heart-in framing studs are
visually graded in accordance to AS2858. Definiton of
Heart in studs is generally lower density material containing
growth rings of radius of less than 50mm.

Why Heart in Studs?
'The heart part of the log is usaully characterised
by wide growth rings, low density wood fibre and is
most prone to twist and movement because of these and
other physical attributes. In recognition of these factors
and the need to produce a fit the purpose product ,
the pine processing industry introduced Heart-In studs
as a cost effective product. This product as such has
limitations on visual characteristics such as knots
as well as utility requirements such as spring, bow
and twist

Storing
Timber is a natural and environmentally friendly material
and is produced form plantations and sustainably managed
forests that are critical to the health of our planet.
To get the best out of timber, it's worth taking a little
care.
- Timber should remain strapped and stored under cover
where possible, stacked straight and off the ground.
- When delivered, good building practice dictates
that it should be carefully lifted from the truck
and stacked straight and dry. Keeping the pack covered
and strapped will assist in reducing moisture changes
and reduce heat differential within the pack - the
strapping will help reduce distortion.
